Spiritual Awakening Unlike the other records above, Music of the Spheres, is not a new release. It was produced by a Sikh/3HO label in the early 1980's before the digital CD revolution. It's a classic new age recording. As with other musical genres, in this category there are albums that tower above the rest, must be remembered, and honored always. The Invincible label has produced some great music over the years, including, Mender of Hearts, the Crimson Collection, and chant based upon the Sikh scriptures of India known as the Guru Granth or Adi Granth. An album before its time; the previous technologies of cassette tapes and vinyl LPs simply did not do justice to what this recording was trying to accomplish. Now available on compact disc, Music of the Spheres, will take you on a very relaxing meditative journey with two long tracks: Angel Bells of Raga Bhairo, featuring one of the most otherworldly flute compositions I've ever heard, along with the pure sounds of bells, harmonium, tamboura, and electronics. The second track, Raga Bhairo Soundscapes, attempts to reproduce or mimic for the listener, the music of the inner Sound Current or Astral Bell often heard by practitioners of Shabda Yoga, Nada Yoga meditation, and in certain rare forms of Buddhist Quan Yin practice. After hearing literally thousands of CDs, this is still one of my all-time favorite albums of meditation music from the "hearts of space" - music for relaxation. Radio with James Bean

Music for healing – the power of sound – is the theme of my compact discussions this month.

When I first met Jonathan Goldman a few years back, he was running an organization called, “The New England Sound Healers,” and it’s now known as the, “Sound Healers Association.” Goldman defines his practice in the following way: “Sound Healing, as the name implies, is the use of sound to create balance and alignment in: the physical body, the energy centers called ‘chakras’, and/or the etheric fields. The sound may be applied by an instrument or by the human voice. Sound Healing is a vibrational therapy and can be understand as being energy medicine.”

This new double disc set distributed by the Sounds True label represents a wonderful two-hour workshop on turning your voice into a healing force. At first, Goldman describes the philosophical foundation for his teachings on sound: how that according to all the major world religions the universe came into being through the energy of the divine sound, or Nada Brahma. Then, there is the experiential part of the recording, during which, the listener learns how to work with vowel-chant and tone the chakras of the human body. This recording serves as a wonderful introduction to the healing modality known as Sound Healing.
